Kitty's prayer

Kitty's prayer

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

Dear God,

Thank you for the food that fills my bowl each day.

Thank you for the strings I find, when I want to play.

Thank you for high places when it's time for me to hide.

(Like when the family's gone and they left the dog inside.)

Thank you for the people who like to pet my head.

Thank you that they let me fluff their pillows for my bed.

Thank you for the little kids that have the funnest toes.

But God, please tell them that us cats do not like to wear clothes.

Oh, this is so very cute! Others have pointed this out... but, yeah, I can totally see my cats saying this. :D

I love the rhyming and the humor! Each line is so perceptive and true. I've always felt bad for kitties who get stuck in an empty house with a dog that likes to "play" with them. :(

Anyway, I really enjoyed this!

Thank you for entering my competition Melanie. I apologise that I did not find your poem funny so I cannot put it as a winner, although It was a great poem, very cute and I love cats! If the contest hadn't been for humour, I would probably have given it a very high place. I also apologise for not reading the entries earlier, there have been other things on my mind.

I loved this! The rhyme was spot on and I loved the images, i could just see my kitty saying this (well, except the dog part as we don't have one, lol) , and that last line, very very funny!

oh hun, I have to be careful what I say, But that is beautiful, especially how you brought a "Kittys" innocence to your view rather than making it a adult theme, unfortunately the world is collectively far, far away from this.
You know when they asked Jesus when he would come back he said, "When you can throw your clothes on the ground and act like a child again" It seems this is exactly what you are expressing, I really love it.

Nice write,
Love matt
