Another Melody

Another Melody

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

Another melody today.

Another melody to pray.

And the whole communication

was like soul liberation. (X2)

Some people think out loud.

I tend to sing my words instead.

Trying not to force them out,

I let them flow inside my head.

Another melody today.

Another melody to pray.

And the whole communication

was like soul liberation. (X2)

Although they seem familiar,

like I knew them in my youth,

I don’t know where they come from.

I just know they feel like truth.

Another melody today.

Another melody to pray.

And the whole communication

was like soul liberation. (X2)

I know they’re something special

from the chill upon my skin;

and though they sound like new to me,

It feels like they’ve always been.

Another melody today.

Another melody to pray.

And the whole communication

was like soul liberation. (X2)
