Reunion

Hope you like this.

It is so strange that we part.

Even though we were one 

We had to leave.

We shared our joys and our woes too,

We traveled the same path,

Always helping each other.

We believed that our mind was the same,

And we thought alike,

We believed that in our different bodies

Reside a common soul.

And yet we had to part.

Is not all this strange?

Life took us to different paths,

And now we tread upon them.

Feeling so lonely,

We have to move on,

For life has to go on; and we cannot stop.

The only reason we should not halt.

We should not halt because- because

Deep in hearts we know,

That all this is not strange- this was never strange,

 But it is life and us, who are strange,

Our ways may be different but 

Our destination is the same.

We shall meet again in a Happy Land,

For it is our destiny that is the same,

And at the end of this path of life,

There will be a REUNION; and we

Shall never part again,

And forever shall be one and the same.

I absolutely love the last line. It speaks of a connection going beyond ordinary things. This poem has personality in it that I can see in your other poems but in a more structured way. I was a little short of breath after reading this.

Dear Mehul Rawat,

These lines were a bit confusing to me, "For life has to go on; and we cannot stop/ The only reason we should not halt." What was the only reason?

Also, this line was a bit awkward, "For it is our destiny that is the same."

Ah, I remember my first free verse, lol. This is more cheery than mine was. Anyways, this poem reminds me of the moral that we learn, "some people are there for a season" in addition the moral of life. I love life for all its troubles, aches, disappointments, joy, laughter. Indeed, this poem has touched me in the essence of my love.

My favorite line has to be,

It's really good. I actually like free verse more than rhymed poetry. I used to hate it, but now I've noticed the beauty of it.
