Moonlight

Moonlight

A Poem by Mehreen

With the onset of darkness
The wind drifted through my window with immense calmness ,
Timidly began a wispher ,
And headed me outside by a whisker.
I ran barefoot ; straining my eyes into darkness
A slightly amused glazed put me into catharsis
As if a wandering firefly has caught my attention,
But it was something outside of my imaginative detention,
An illuminous ray ; piercing the clouds ,
It was a sparkled diamond with which the sky was endowed,
I stared at the reflection,
To make it really sure that it's not a deception
A shine displayed,
Altering the undertone of the dark night into a lighter shade
Permeating from my skin to my soul ,
It burned the candles in my heart as a whole
An infinite shine " glittering and blinking " dancing with my shadow
Resonating with my heart's echo,
Filtering through pounding waves, cool breeze and thin leaves
It was really what I conceived
Contrary of a rasping and bitter sunlight,
My good fortune made me know the moonlight.
