CelebrityA Poem by Mehar Anaokar
It must be hard to be a celebrity
To see yourself under a harsh spotlight To have a constant gravity pulling you down When all you want to do is fly I don't need fame to know struggle I have seen the truth and heard your lie And we live in an age of judgement An age of assumption, and of spite Words twisted into new meaning Rhythm sucked out of rhyme The purpose reduced to mockery The inspiration, shrivelled and dried I am put up on a pedestal, then Pushed down and into the grime Excessive praise or extreme criticism I tip toe on a thin line You never bother to ask for my side You brew stories in your mind To you, I must be a celebrity For you judge me all the time. © 2016 Mehar Anaokar |
