Tender Will

Tender Will

Today
Does it have to be today?
So, you never want to play?
Yes, I do, Mom. But today?

Please
I am grabbing the car keys
Do I really have to, please?
Must I get down on my knees?

Try
If I have to I will cry
You think that will get you by?
Since you love me I won't lie

Love?
Oh look, Mom, there's a white dove
Do you need a little shove?
No, I'm fine. I have your love

I can't help but read the first word of every stanza in sequence: "Today Please Try Love" . . . that's what stands out to me (& I really love the creativity of doing it this way), even tho I wasn't particularly following the details of this scenario at first. I think this is a back-and-forth between mom & kid, but the person speaking each line isn't clear for me upon the first reading. Anyhow, I like the whimsical nature of the message, even if I'm not 100% dialed in.
