This Isn't Me

This Isn't Me

A Poem by Meg

This isn't me.
I am not the heartless person
that I pretend to be.
I gave up every fight,
but I can still see the difference
between right and wrong.
Oh, how I wish I could
stop singing this broken song.
I gave up on the inside,
the moment I ran to hide.
Now I'm lost in the crowd,
and I can't stop turning
round and round.
Always searching,
always screaming,
for something real.
But deep down,
There is nothing left to feel.
I gave up and I gave in.
There is no chance
that I will ever win.
But can't you try to look past my sins?
I need so badly for you to understand.
Just look me in the eyes,
and I promise you will finally see.
This isn't me.
