His Mark

His Mark

A Poem by Meg

Pushing forward,
falling back,
nothing ever seems to last.
You fight for the truth,
but drown in the lies.
You can't seem to look anyone,
straight in the eyes.
Feeling so tired,
you can't shake the fear,
that you're about to expire.
You beg anyone at all,
to extinguish your raging fire.
Facing another demotion,
you bury all emotions,
behind that shapeless mask.
And deep down,
you never really loved him.
Lost in the memories,
you want to forge ahead,
but you just can't forget,
everything you had.
All because he left his mark,
on your lonely, little heart.
