Failure

Failure

A Poem by Meg

The raging storm inside,

has calmed into scattered showers.

The sun is emerging,

prepared to diminish the pitiful tears,

I shed when you spilt my heart in two.

My memories of you,

are nothing but a distant shimmer,

smearing and blurring,

with every passing moment.

You arenothing morethen the
dreaded key to my disastrous past.

So don’t you dare reenter my life,

with the naive belief that you

are still my one and only.

Please realize that my dignity is fully intact,

and my tortured mind has healed.

I have broken free from the heartache,

and found my way on the intricate road of life.

The lies of devotion have lost their meaning,

and your penetrating eyes no longer make me melt.

Your arms are nothing but chains,

holding me back from living.

You are a fool,

to ever believe that I'm still in love with you.

For we were only an illusion

built on the rocky foundation of

childish dreams and false hope.

Just stop with the shameless lying.

It’s time to admit the stone cold truth:

We failed.
