In the midst of a panic attack, I wrote this.

MARCH 9 2017 9:17 am

My lungs have been robbed of oxygen

My heart is in a steel cage

It thumps and stutters through each shallow breath

And a familiar pressure builds behind my eyes.

The tightness in my chest becomes painful

And the butterflies in my stomach turn to stone.

I pull my hair back as tight as I can

And pretend I have some semblance of control

I try

But the stone butterflies are still fluttering their wings

And I think I may cry

I read your tag line and then the poem. I know someone close to me who sufffers from anxiety and does have panic attacks. Even though thepiece was short it really did hit hard, for if you read between the lines, you get some idea of the intense emotion and feelings behind the words.

Quite difficult to review - I do hope you understand what I am trying to say in the above messages.
Kudos for this piece.
