FireworksA Story by MeganA short. They cracked like whips in the darkness of the
sky. Their high-pitched screams echoing against the trees. She stared at the
sky, while the lights danced in her eyes. “Wow.” She breathed quietly,
a barely audible whisper. With another loud crack, the sky exploded into gold. Her
mouth hung slightly ajar, her eyes stared straight ahead. Purples and greens
filled the sky, she remained unmoving. I watched the rockets
reflected in her eyes. Red and gold sparkles danced atop hazel. Her lips turned
upwards, a small smile. It was cool, and my arms bumped Her hair blew softly in the wind, but she was
still. Watching the fireworks. I watched her. “I’ve never seen anything
so beautiful.” She murmured quietly. Me too. © 2013 Megan |
