Gentlemen

Gentlemen

A Poem by Megan E Twenter

gentlemen still exist
hidden throughout our existence
although I may be blind
most of the time
I'd still pick you out of a crowd

you open a door
you pull out a chair
you always expect something in return

gentlemen still exist
where the eye cannot see
hidden inside
hidden by their pride
for the game that they think they play

you say some sweet words
buy her some flowers
and still expect something in return

gentlemen still exist
outside of our well - written dreams
call me a day dreamer
a hopeless believer
but some things just aren't as they seem

This poem really keys on some classic themes. I like how you focused on how gentlemen aren't often seen. I think that says something about our society. Yes, I do agree that is their way. Yet, I would say many of them are out done by those those naughty boys you identified in this piece. Glad to see that there are still people who cherish gentlemen.

Some of us make mistakes
At times we are impolite
Sometimes we are gentlemen
and we would be insulted if offered
something in return.
Sometimes we are just guys.

I hope I'm a gentleman. If so, they exist!

I agree! We are still around. :0). Some women are so adorable and enjoyable that being a Gentlemen is much easier.....
