Face It

Face It

A Poem by Megan E Twenter

I've been beaten
I've been broken
Busted up
Been abused

I've been fighting
Through the lightening
Of this life
I've had to choose

I've been shaken
I've been put down
I've been scared
And alone

Even in the arms of one man
You can't feel a sense of home

I've been crying
I've been trying
To give this life
A second chance

I've been building
Walls of quilting
Into my heart
Don't stand a chance

But I've let go of myself
And am giving this heart it's last stand

I am open and I am feeling
Everything I've never had
I've been laughing and I've been crying
Because in this life I land

The heart of someone
Someone worth it
To allow myself
To try and work it

I've been given my last chance
To lead a life that has romance

In a whirlwind I am flying
My feet don't reach the ground
To myself I'm not longer lying
My heart can't slow the pound

I can feel my heartbeat racing
Feel your touch across my skin
And everything my life's been facing
I recognize the win

You are someone I deserve
You will stand to face the end
