Right Where I Am

Right Where I Am

A Poem by Megan E Twenter

Ive dreamed of all the places
in the distance where I'd be
but now that Im twenty two
It feels more like twenty three

Ive dreamed of every city
every meadow in every state
Ive been looking for my out
but I've yet to find that way

But this place where I am
and where you are
Right here with me

Is everything I need
everything I want
Never had to leave

Though the city is the same
and the weather doesn't change
In a one bedroom apartment
is where I plan to stay

I picture all your posters
your pillows on our bed
all your records on my player
your voice stuck in my head

I picture you playing magic
with your friends on our couch
and me ordering pizza
watching netflix, vegging out

Late night conversations
bed time kisses on the head
my own heated blanket
your face resting in my hand

I picture morning laughter
and by morning I mean noon
because you'll never leave our bed
and we'll be there soon

Ive never looked past
the end of my own nose
but now that Ive got you
there's so much I dont know

But youre the motivation
youre what I want in life
and with you I can be anything
be anywhere, at any time

I know Im feeling older
but this is all so new
Never dreamed of my own home
never thought Id dream of you

Never thought you had existed
Never wished or searched or hoped
And maybe that is why I've found you
When Im no longer broken

I never dreamed of love
and I never pictured my life
if you someone like you had happened
never thought id get anything right
