The Start

The Start

A Poem by Megan E Twenter

The same blue eyes
That I've always seen
A face with no name
But the heart that I seek

That smile through the dark
Has lit the way
My heart has been beating
In hopes of a new day

Those lips could be poison
And the venom I'd taste
Will leave me breathless
In my heart, in this place

Your voice tells the stories
Of a life you have led
I find comfort in your soft words
Your laughter fills my head

Ive been smiling and happy
For the weeks that have passed
And to be bold with my thoughts
I just wish this would last

Ive never met someone
More intense than I
But Ive found my match
From whom Ive sensed no lie

My mind is off wandering
to my place in your bed
And I dream of your face
And every single kiss had

Ive been swept away
Float along in a dream
Where I may belong to you
And your heart is with me

Its so hard to be patient
When its not been an hour
I miss your hand in mine
And the air has grown sour

I could lie there for hours
Your arms holding me tight
In my mind, my heart bursting
Hold me all through the night

Awake to your face
With your head on my chest
Our fingers intertwined
This is where my heart rests

Id say I was searching
But that may be a lie
Because when I finally gave up
I found you by my side

You may call this corny
Probably think it's a joke
But Im still learning to use words
So my feelings I wrote

I hope that you keep me
That I will one day be everything
You've allowed me to write
So I'll wait for you to sing

Just know that there's nothing
No other being like you
That gets me this way
All I speak is true

This is my permission
Run away with my heart
And may you never stop going
This is only the start
