Honestly, Honesty

Honestly, Honesty

A Poem by Megan E Twenter

Honestly
Ill never be the girl next door
Ill never be the girl just out of reach
Ill never be the one that got away
and Ill never be the one to sweep you off your feet

Honesty
will always bring pain
the truth does hurt too much sometimes
but there's no other way
and this is what I remain to be

Ill never be the smartest
or the prettiest in the room
But I will be the most honest
so we'll always stay true

I cant say that I wont mess up
I cant say that Id give you everything I have
But I can say I will try
And you can take what you can get

My breath will be shortened
And my voice will sometimes break
I will cry and I will yell
Maybe make it hurt like hell

But I will always see that you smile
and that I will never lose your trust
Whether if for a lifetime
Or a glimpse at confusion and lust

Ill never be the funniest
I wont always make you laugh
Ill never be the kindest
Sometimes I just get mad

But I will always hold you
and tell you it's okay
and you'll never feel betrayed
and know these hands will never stray

And I will never tell you
all the things you'll never be
but I will promise to tell you
everything you mean to me

Ill never make the most sense
and I cant promise you wont hurt
But you'll never wonder what I want
never question what this is worth
