Drunk

Drunk

A Poem by Megan E Twenter

Do you remember the time
when we sitting on the couch
and you told me that I sucked
and I just began to pout

And then your eyes grew heavy
and a light inside you burst
you looked me in the face
and told me I was the worst

It wasnt how you said it
but the way your hand touched mine
and the room just started spinning
all I could taste was the wine
you said when you first saw me
your heart leaped away
and it jumped into my chest
then asked if it could stay

You asked me if I felt it
when our eyes first fully met
on the day we exchanged names
but I was just a simple mess

You told me you were scared
and asked me what do we do next
and thats when I said to stop talking
and to kiss my lips instead

It wasnt how you said it
but the way your hand touched mine
and the room just started spinning
all I could taste was the wine
you said when you first saw me
your heart leaped away
and it jumped into my chest
then asked if it could stay

Every day I see you
my heart starts to race
and my palms start to get sweaty
I'm engulfed in a daze

And when those hard hands touch me
I can feel your every thought
and they soften when you hold me
as if my skin is what they sought

It wasnt how you said it
but the way your hand touched mine
and the room just started spinning
all I could taste was the wine
you said when you first saw me
your heart leaped away
and it jumped into my chest
then asked if it could stay

I've been walking back and forth
Feeling like I'm dumb
but when were put together
your presence has me drunk

It wasnt how you said it
but the way your hand touched mine
and the room just started spinning
all I could taste was the wine
you said when you first saw me
your heart leaped away
and it jumped into my chest
then asked if it could stay

I've been walking back and forth
Feeling like I'm dumb
but I dont need a single drop
your presence has me drunk

a great 'chorus' to this song....Go and get your guitar

This a very lyrical poem, not hard to imagine it being sung. I love the chorus or what starts as the third stanza. You paint the story really well into a full picture.

Excellent poem.
