Swallowed/Sold

Swallowed/Sold

A Poem by Megan E Twenter

Breath me in, just swallow me whole
consume my life and possess my soul
Keeping quiet, my grounded feet
Cant sweep away, when all's kept neat
I saw you smile and I saw you cry
everytime you would just want to lay down and die
I reached out my hand and you held on tight
I tried to pull you up with all my might
Those words became hollow, your face was still fading
Walking away because I've been feeling so jaded
I cant take a day without you, and I cant sleep at night
everything feels so wrong when you try to make it right
Ive been diving into shallow water since the day you called my name
I've been drowning in my heart beat without a drain
I've been pacing my room in circles, conversations in my head
Never thought I'd have a reason to doubt anything you said
I've desensitized my feelings, cause my everything is you
and I tried to stay away but you're the driver, I'm just the screw
You have purpose, you have meaning, I hold the foundation
Hang me up to dry, I will wait in anticipation
I'm not leaving, I'm not gone, and I will never walk away
I just need to find a reason that you would need me to stay
But I'll keep living, I'll keep breathing,
I'll still be here, if you keep dreaming
I am sorry I can't help you, when it's what you want the most
Just remember, you keep living and your body's just the host
The most beautiful being, I've yet to see
and may your word always be true to me
The sun here is shining, dissipating the cold
One look in my eyes, and I was already sold.
