Let Down, Per Usual

Let Down, Per Usual

A Poem by Megan E Twenter

I feel like I'm overreacting, but in the fire something died

It was lit then burnt out quick, why should it work out right

I am everything you need, and you are everything I want

Will she listen to you cry, though your world, it falls apart

Could you look me in the eye and tell me that you didn't care

Lead me on, until I was hooked, then stole my heart just like a crook

Dont you dare say I never made you smile, let out a little laugh

I hope you think about her and how its got you what you have left

I'm sorry if it's harsh, and I just dont "understand"

I guess I'm just a liar and I can't help you feel but sad

I'm awake till the start of morning, every night

because when loneliness begins to strike

I'm not sorry that I tried so hard, I'm not sorry that I cared

I just wish that you'd be sorry for treating me so unfair

I ripped out my heart, bare hand, through the chest

You took the best part, why wouldn't you throw away the rest?
