A Poem by Megan E Twenter

I've got letters in my mailbox
filled up to the brim
with apologies and longings
and where to begins

and I'm so tired of your postage
each stamp from a new state
if you wanted this, if you wanted me
you know you should've stayed

but i will not sit waiting
and burning all this ink
in the fireplace, i watch it melt away
everything we ever made

and when my phone starts ringing
im still hoping that its you
but all you get is the voicemail
cause everything i said was true

when you get tired of running around
and keep dialing my phone
i just may be here
living in a brand new home

so when your sorry's have all run out
and all the tears have washed away
you'll look back and think of me
and how you left me here this way

I can say,
I wont regret a single thing
but when its said and done
and its no more fun
I cant promise you I'll wait
