Muse of the Burning Flames

Muse of the Burning Flames

A Poem by Megan
"

I wrote this for a 9th grade English project where we had to invoke a muse

"
Muse, tell me the story of the girl with many arrows,

The girl who lost it all to win the Games.

Tell me the story, beginning to end, of the girl full of flames.

With a heart of stone and a soul of grit

She saved the boy at the end of it,

At the end of their time, at the end of the line

She brought him home but was all alone

In her heart of stone and her cold, cold soul.

But the little girls, of the little flowers,

They opened her up and made her shine

They opened her up and she came alive.

The boy she could love,

And the boy she could not,

And the little girls of the little flowers,

They brought her home, where there was no home

They brought her home and there she shone

Like the beautiful flames, like the hungry flames,

Like the burning flames she was.
