The Voice Tells Me

The Voice Tells Me

A Poem by winter;lyra

The voice tells me:

"hell
the sky has swallowed our heroes
stand down
stand atop the ice cube
upside down
on your tiptoes
and push the dark seed, pull the sweet mead
drank
sank
morning blank
close the robe, check the rope
stretch your toes
hey you know
why stay saint
with enough holy water you would not feel the mocking flames
hey replace the label and refill the bottle
round two go!

OH LOSE'EM ON YOUR NIGHTLY DANCE
FEEL THE TRANCE
LOSE'EM BECAUSE YOU SAID
FEEL THE TRANCE
LOSE'EM OH BROTHER
MAKE'EM ALL DANCE
TO YOUR SONG

but before long
you're awake
and the ice is thinner
if you could only run away..."
