Go To War, Son

Go To War, Son

A Poem by winter;lyra

Sought wisdom
Preached hope
Saw doom
All the love has been spent
So I leave you this song

Son

Feed mother
Feed brother
Kill another
Go to war and crawl son

Machine gun
Sword
Pick one
Ask who to kill

Smoke
Blood
Disease
See through
And live
Guilt-free
And breathe
Son

Love us now
Love us then
Weep no more
Save the repent
To when
Your breath is spent

Feed mother
Feed brother
Kill another one

And once it is all spent
Carry all
But this song

Your poetry. The song of the new world. A sad song.
"Feed mother
Feed brother
Kill another one"
The above lines. True and scary. Thank you my friend for sharing the outstanding and realistic poetry.

This piece almost squeezed tears out of me. It depicts the sad situation when wars and kills are "necessary" to earn one's life. Helplessness oozes from each of the rhythmic lines. The final stanza is my favorite - it brings hope back.

And once it is all spent
Carry all
But this song

Hope that this song will never be sung again. Let it be forgotten together with all the pains wars are bringing to humanity.

These are very powerful and raw.
I have no frames of musical reference for lyrics like these Winter - what did you envisage - style-wise?
I'm guessing it's not The Eagles.
