The Sky

The Sky

A Poem by C M

The sky drew

breath

and went supernova

or

the sky scattered

like lines drawn between

freshly blown dandelion seeds

tumbling into stars

then crashing into overgrown grass

or

the sky sunk

into unfocused horizon lines

peeling back new skies

unfamiliar, unsettling, and staggering

with enigmatic topography

or

the sky remains

holding its remnant skin

unyielding to the hairline fractures

gilding its body

The sky exists

but not

as it once was
