Everything and I

Everything and I

A Poem by Tim Lion

Everything and I

Snapshot impact!

Punch lands,

Life ends,

Day begins.

A stick figure geek

With an obvious hangover

Crawls the scummy sidewalk

Looking for his wounded glasses.

He makes my head throb

Like a sunlight sledgehammer.

A beauty queen / soccer mom

Orders unruly overdressed twerps

To stop throwing M&Ms at one another

At a forever stoplight.

I want a bite;

A green one.

I’m late for a collision with a self-

Important prick whose shoes squeak

As he briskly walks toward his plain and un-

grieved grave.

Makes me cry to understand

That I’ll never understand

Him.

I am born and I die

Over and over

With everyone;

All day; everyday;

A rogue cell in a volatile organism

Always on the brink of explosion

And implosion.

I’m just like everything else here:

Temporary,

Yet,

Immortal.

I am running in every direction

At once.

I’ll never return.

The three character sketches are inspired...you have such a satirical eye for detail and know how to twist it all to metaphor with a turn of the wrist.

Great build up to the conclusion too:

I’m just like everything else here:
Temporary,
Yet,
Immortal.

Sometimes, when the moon presses her naked chest to my window, and my wife is carving the value from trash scraps, I feel like I may never be able to outshine my finite timeline. And the worst part is.. more..
