a religious shift

a religious shift

A Poem by Tim Lion

watch for ice on bridgework ruins

tune to F-sharp and slice cold divides

ride to the mouth on your driftwood soul

and wash your muddy love in the ocean

devotion to movement; a religious shift

adrift in the skies of forgotten dreams

scream out the song of wild windblown hair

stare down your sedimentary Satan

she tried to destroy me, and burn down

the sea, but pain and regret are immortal

now sort out the shrapnel; translate the scars

celestial navigation to nowhere

I found myself reading each line really slowly, to savour the words and ideas before moving on to the next... It's all so very good.
I love the driftwood soul and the muddy love, the wild windblown hair... she tried to destroy me, and burn down the sea.... Such monumental images. Too good.

A lot of very biting and strong images back in there. It has a very blunt and brutal feel about it. The determination to bite back and shout a big 'screw you' to the world and forge your own path.

About
Sometimes, when the moon presses her naked chest to my window, and my wife is carving the value from trash scraps, I feel like I may never be able to outshine my finite timeline. And the worst part is.. more..
