...Alter ego is one of mankind's greatest enemies...

“The world would be a hell of a lot better without some people poisoning us all with their distorted perspectives.” Light, the 17 year old male, who hated the idea of criminals in the world, thought to himself as he woke in the late sunrise. He was tempted to shut his eyes for a bit longer, so that he would not have to get up and bare with the life in front of him. He stood up ever so slowly, like a balloon being filled with air. He walked downstairs into the kitchen to grab his morning coffee. A small pause in the atmosphere came along. He looked out his small paned window, to notice an oddly placed red brick wall. He stepped foot outside, the sun overwhelming his sight, the bees buzzing around… Light stood as still as a statue in front of this red, brick, wall. As he gave the wall a good few minutes of glaring, he then placed his hand on the wall… Something felt very strange about this wall… As if there was a negative energy just emitting itself off of this very wall.

Then, came the conclusion. Light felt a very soft feeling on this wall, it felt as if something was covering the front of this wall. However, upon looking around all the sides and edges of this wall, it seemed as if it was all made of brick. Light chuckled, and thought to himself, maybe God wants to toy with him today. He chuckled again, and walked off with his head high.

Dong… Dong… Dong… The church bell rang as he was walking the calm and baron streets outside of his school. It was the second floor of the “Jeffersons’ School of Enlightened Minds”. Upon inspection of his school seat, there lied a red pen. This pen seemed like no ordinary pen… It had strange markings on it, and when Light picked it up, it was very weighted and had little to no balance with it. “This pen… I feel the same energy as I felt from the wall this morning…” Light proceeded home that evening, and walked out into his backyard to notice the wall, still standing on the very soil it was at. The bees began buzzing once more, just like the morning hours…

Light was puzzled, and did not know if this was reality or a fantasy inside his head. He sat on the soft grass ground, and stared at the wall, questioning its very existence. He put his head down as if he were in some sort of shame… He had to find out the purpose of this wall. He got up from his abnormal sitting, and began walking back to the house, however, time felt as if it were going in slow motion. Then, his curiosity only blew up from that moment onward. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed something red. On that very wall he was puzzled over moments ago, appeared letters, spelling out some sort of phrase… Light dashed up the wall, his eyes glued to the phrase. It was written in some sort of red material, almost like blood. The phrase wrote: “He whose name is written, shall be either experience pain or death itself… Be warned, the one who writes on this wall shall face their trial of the human mind in despair…” Light could not believe what he was reading before him… “That pen… That pen..!” Light began to write down the name of a local bully at his school that deserved to be taught a lesson, in his perspective. After his name, he put the word, “pain”. “Yes… If this god-like object placed before me is real… Then I can become the god of this world…”

It had been a month, and, for those 31 days, Light had over 100 names of various criminals written on his wall. The wall became a classic example of graffiti painted in an alleyway. “Yes… Yes! I am the god of this new world I am creating! Everyone shall live innocent lives without the harm of others in their society!” Light began to head inside his home for the night, knowing his judgement has been passed once again for the better of mankind. That night was the 31st day and first month completed of judgement. However… That was also going to be the last…

Light woke up the next morning, ready to pass more judgement. He walked outside into the calm, breeze of wind and the thin layers of grass waving through the air… The wall was standing in front of him. All of the names were gone from the wall. The only marking left on the wall, was the name of Light himself. Light was puzzled and did not know what was happening… He then collapsed into the grass beneath his feet. His vision was becoming blurred and he was losing sight of everything around him. Then… the unthinkable happened…

Standing over-top of his layed out body, still half-alive, was a black figure with what appeared to be some sort of robes over top of it. No face was recognizable. The figure had one thing to say: “A man's alter ego clouds his judgement, and makes his conscious fall through the trials of life itself. You were clouded by your greed. You became the opposite of the very person and soul that you have in your possession.” The figure vanished into the breeze of air, nowhere to then be found.

Light’s vision getting dimmer and darker. He was laying flat out onto the grass below him, staring into the sky. A small cloud passed his line of sight, and he thought to himself… “That cloud is myself, floating away into another distant land…” Light passed away that moment, he was no longer living. The name on the wall vanished, and the wall remained there.

The church bell chimed once more that morning…
