A Child Gazing At LightningA Poem by MeandererLightning
The storm rampaged
The dark sky lit by the gravity of lightning As two eyes, lit with neon impressions Gazed out of a lonely window To the magical wrath of an elusive god She gazed at the next flash In a melange of fear and awe What zig-zags down the staircase from heaven A branched phenomenon, with flare to thrill And electricity to kill She gazed through the lucid pane Like curiosity stranded against a keyhole Knowing what lied outside, out of her reach What trembled yet soothed her spirit The enigma of light from cosmological heights Falling in a bundle yet ascending like a bungee rope She could see it all, the light that shone Amidst the dark bewitching night Where the moon had surrendered with her troupes And clouds had colonized the monsoon sky Yet she only wanted the thrill of lightning Wrapped within her lips Oh how beautiful is juvenile ambition No inhibitions nor caged spirits Lurking with her pupils and dreaming with the third eye Of neon kisses falling from the sky © 2014 Meanderer |
