Thanks to Them

Let me express my gratitude through this poem

The stage is set, the lights are on, and here I go.
For the last time this year I wear my uniform.
It’s something I hated and treasured long ago
And now I’m off to let it go on this platform.

 How fast time passes by, all memories piled up.
Many people showed up then they just disappeared,
Evaporating like water inside a cup
Until all that’s left are the ones who are sincere.

 I say farewell to my teachers whom I salute.
They tried their best to steer me to the proper route.
I will always thank them for that in my whole life.
They are my heroes even in the afterlife.

I must admit I hate that those numerous books.
They always seemed to kill me with those icy looks.
But thanks to those books I clearly saw my dream world.
It honed my mind to fight with the wits of the world.

To all of my friends, I will never forget you.
You were always the ones who finished up my food.
I don’t even know how I ended up with you
But thanks to you I think I’ll survive adulthood.

I thank God and my parents for this experience.
If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t meet this place
I grew up here and sometimes I dread each moment
For me to go and have my own accomplishment.

School is finally done and I’d learned my lessons.

Now off I go to greet new opportunities.

But I will always remember those quotations

Because they’re my armor against calamities.

I am thanking you from the bottom of my heart.

You just made me who I am from the very start.

Now I can fully understand life's every art.

Now I am off to find the place where I will start.

I'm forced to write this one and I'm not even on the mood while writing this one...
But still, please review and read it guys...
And I am still open for suggestions for the title...

You're right - the title is very passive. It doesn't live up to the greatness that is this poem! I like the idea of a graduation - and especially that most people disappear from your life! It's very good in that sense and for the title might I suggest 'Wits of the world.' It's in the poem and sets the tone just right. Or 'My New Future' or 'Reaching Adulthood.' Does that help?

Graduating from what? High school? At any rate, it's an admirable farewell work to the life that was and the challenge of what's to come. And it will come and you will be equal to all it brings, believe me. And the people you promise to remember will be forgotten in a new world and that's simply how it goes. That's when I want you to write this work again. Until then, this is a fine piece well worth reading.
