All of Diablo Immortal's actual gameplay is completely free, and will be extended to new classes, zones and dungeons to be added post-launch. For those who aren't willing to shell out a cent, there's a no-cost battle pass which offers a variety to reward players in form items, currencies, and upgrades materials. Furthermore, there were a number of ideas that weren't made to Diablo Immortal at launch, Burgess declared, and may be added to the game for free in future patches.
"We're going to continue to release content on a regular cadence," Burgess said. "Our target is every few months, we'll release the latest dungeon or zone. Along with that comes brand new story content that players can play through." According to Burgess, the main campaign in the beginning takes around 20 hours to complete.
How Diablo Immortal can stick in the line of a truly Diablo game and free-to-play MMO remains to be seen, but Burgess believes that players will be stunned by the scope and the scope of Diablo Immortal as well as its role within the Diablo series.
"It's an experience that feels as if it's a genuine Diablo gaming experience," Burgess said. "It's dark, gritty. It's going to make all the Diablo fans who loved being afraid of dungeons crawls, they'll love it. But it's also a very friendly game for players who've not tried an Diablo game before."
