Mental mountain

Mental mountain

A Poem by Anthony (aka Mr.e)
"

Having the will power to conquer personal challenges...

"

The mountain was the tallest,

and the man was the smallest.

The time to conquer the beast was here;

it was clear the little man was filled with fear.

The incline along its base began as a vast empty space;

defeat was the taste within the sweat dripping from his face.

Halfway the landscape would portray a dull and lifeless grey;

today his legs felt like clay as he fell to his knees and began to pray.

Many have died from the steep cliff-side the mountain would provide;

with no where left to hide, he scaled the wall and tried to salvage his pride.

The summit was protected where the stones intersected closer than he expected;

options were carefully inspected as his thoughts collected until another path was detected.

The apex hid above the crowd in a mysterious shroud within a dark and stormy rain cloud;

atop the mountain he stood proud, fully endowed with the ability to scream his success aloud.

What a carefully created mountain filled with phrases and philosophy as fine as fine can be!

Seems we're surrounded with so much mayhem and mess, life is one scrambling climb over-under hurdles galore. Is nigh impossible to escape but - can be done. Takes time, perseverance, hope, prayer. That summit is the haven whene Self is free to look down at the entities and reject them.. best as can be. Perhaps..

Yes, but no where near the time and patience as the experience itself...
very beautiful and well conceived - and it is lovely to see that the obstacles to conquer can be overcome.

Thank you Angelina!
Love this poem mr. e. and so good to see you here! The rhyme pattern is amazing, as is theme, killer mountain form, flow, cadence, imagery and rhyme. Love how all of the elements are cohesive depicting the man’s perilous climb to the mountaintop ( much as we do in life) and the pride he shouted to the world at his success. Uplifting. Perfect.

Always my pleasure!
this is really good, not only in its shape..like the mountain...but in the philosophy that often our problems do seem like trying to climb Mt. Everest...
