Cravings

Cravings

A Poem by Michael (Letters and Lifelines)

There's a sanctum,
Near the rear pane.
See a shadow,
On the bed frame.

There's a darkness,
Like a choking,
Like a sickness.
Feel it growing.

There's a creaking,
Through the silence,
Like a gun shot,
Through the violence.

By the moonlight,
In the mirror,
Watch her moving,
So I can see her.

Can't lie...
I like you dark eyed.
And I've been...
Trying to sneak my way in.
It's a fright night...
And you're just like a knife fight.
But I've been...
Dreaming of your scream again.

I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time,
Where I want to feel you next to me.
I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time,
Where I want to touch you as you sleep.
I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time,
Where I want to hold you as you breathe.
I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time,
Where I like to think you really know me.

Under night skies,
On the concrete,
Follow footprints,
On the dark streets.

Follow closely.
Hear her heartbeat.
Hear the panic,
In her scared feet.

There's a feeling,
Like a lost thrill,
Like the craving,
Of a first kill.

Then a loud noise,
Like a last rite,
Like a siren,
Through a dead night.

I swear...
I love your long hair.
And it's too much...
But I can't get enough.
It's a love affair...
And you're just like a death stare.
But I can't give up...
Because I'm feeling the pain of my first love.

I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time,
Where I just let you walk away.
I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time,
Where I can't think of what to say.
I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time,
Where I just leave when I can stay.
I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time,
Where I like to think that I'm okay.

It's a long night,
On the East Coast,
Where the wind blows,
And the rain falls.

There's a dim light,
On the sky-line.
Like a reason,
That you can't find.

There's a hollow,
At the river.
It's a nice place,
I can give her.

I will wait there,
As the dawn grows,
With a promise,
Like a red rose.

I like to think of you with me,
As I stare and watch you sleep.
Do you know,
This may be my last hope?

I'm trying not to do this.
I'm holding on and it's useless.
Do you know,
This is the part where I let go?

But I can't let go.

I don't know why,
But I can't let go from time to time.
I just like to think of me and you.
I don't know why,
But I can't let go from time to time.
I just wish I didn't do the things I do.
I don't know why,
But I can't let go from time to time.
I just like to pretend I'm lying next to you.
I don't know why,
But I can't let go from time to time.
I just like to think you're thinking of me, too.

I don't know why,
But I do this from time to time...

Where I like to think that you are mine.

A very nice journey in the words.

The poem told of need and wants. I liked the above lines. Stating your opinions about long hair and memory. Thank you my friend for sharing your excellent poetry.

Wow! You are too kind! I seriously appreciate all of your kindness and support! :)
This is truly a piece with a good rhythm in it. This has a certain cadence,
I like to read that you always (so far for me what I've read) change the subject, this one
is definitely darker, and has a great whimsical feel over it... You have something musical over you. Which I like, for without it, it wouldn't read so beautiful. Thank you for your art...

You are welcome dear friend :) it's a pleasure.
really love the sixth stanza most...it is a beautiful poem...i do agree with Frieda...it is rather lengthy...and i feel shorter is more impactful...but there is a lot to like here.

Thank you, Jacob! I always appreciate your reviews!
It's rather lengthy, but the flow is so amazing, it just zips down the page. Would make a great song! Excellent.

Was my pleasure, I really enjoyed it! Especially the east coast line ;)
This poem is very well structured! Just like Kesha, I also felt deep emotion as my eyes wandered through every single verse.
You have a talent.

Wow! Thank you for all of your kind words! :)
I love this. It is well written, and it does have a very nice rhythm. It feels like a window into the writer's mind. It is dark at times, but at others has this sincere sense of gentle longing. Lovely.
