Closer

Closer

A Poem by Michael (Letters and Lifelines)

Come here...
Please sit with me for now.
Hold me...
Please try to calm me down.
I'm shaking...
But I can't shake this fear.
Don't leave...
I really need you here.

Please help me...
This time I cannot run.
Please tell me...
This is almost done.
Lay here...
And just hold my hand.
It feels good...
To know you understand.

Can you stay,
Until it's over?
I'm scared,
Please hold me closer.
Lay your head,
Upon my shoulder.
And stay,
Right here, by my side...

So I can close my eyes.

Speak to me...
Just tell me anything.
Read out-loud...
Or find a song to sing.
I'll just listen...
I need to hear your voice.
And I would stop this...
If I had the choice.

Please save me...
This time I cannot hide.
This fear...
Comes from deep inside.
I prayed...
And now I think I see,
That a silent God...
Has sent you to help me.

Can you stay,
Until it's over?
I'm scared,
Please hold me closer.
Lay your head,
Upon my shoulder.
And stay,
Right here, by my side...

So I can close my eyes.

wow... it's so sweet and sad at the same time... I can feel the words you've described here. I pray God to bless you with that special person..
Your poetry speaks everything about you and that's similar to my case. Thus, I like reading your works...
Very nicely written, and the repetition of lines sound awesome... ( smiles )

That's alright and you're welcome...
I see the common theme of fear within the poems I have read, fear of letting go. It truly brings the piece to life, sometimes the biggest comfort is knowing someone is there for you. A great read :)

It's my pleasure!
Calmness, silent and quiet is needed to find and know peace.

Desperate plea in your writing, raw and honest piece of work, your words are always pen'd in unwavering quiet truths that most can relate to. Well done Michael.

You're very welcome, Michael! :)
This is a good 'free flowing' poem and you manage to get across the emotions well. Sometimes you can go back to a poem and tidy it up a bit using your 'critical judgement', but I think yours stands well as it is. Well done.

Very expressive and very emotional. Closer dissipates insecurities. Excellent...:).....................

You are welcome...:)................
Beautiful simply beautiful.
Romantic, emotional and very deep.
This was written straight from your heart, it shows.
I loved the whole meaning to it, the rhyming was great, and it all came together quiet nicely :)
Well written I enjoyed :)

Its fine and you are very much welcome :)
I viewed this as someone calling for their guardian angel to make their presence known and protect them from the evils of this world.
We all need that 'someone' in our lives to be there for us through anything.
Great piece of poetry here!
