Young Love

Young Love

A Poem by Michael (Letters and Lifelines)

Forget the things you expect.
Take your tired thoughts,
And lay them all down to rest.

Wallow in her words,
Guessing what she means,
While seeing who goes higher,
On the old playground swings.

And try to steal a touch,
While you're skipping rocks.
And let her win the race,
Down her grammar-school block.

And going home too soon,
With everything to say,
Will leave your heart throbbing,
And wishing that you stayed.

She said, smiling...

Tell me all the things,
That you keep hiding.

Tell me all the reasons,
Why you keep trying.

Tell me all the things,
That keep you up at night...

You'll be alright.

You just have to take a chance,
If you want a little romance.

It can be so daunting,
And so misconstrued,
To think of what she's saying,
When she's shoving you.

It can be so dangerous,
Like no going back,
To grab her while playing tag,
On her high school track.

And try to lean in close,
Just to breathe her air.
And look for random strings,
Just to touch her hair.

And going home too soon,
With everything inside,
Will really leave you shaking,
And doubting you'll survive.

She said, smiling...

Tell me all the things,
That you keep hiding.

Tell me all the reasons,
Why you keep trying.

Tell me all the things,
That you're afraid to do...

I get scared, too.

You just need a little shove,
If you want a little love.

She said, smiling...

I'll be what you think of,
When you wish for love.

Just letters sometimes become one's lifelines.... This poem is amusing to read which made me think once, twice, thrice and again and again all about how miraculous young love is... Even I have experienced this, honestly, just few months back.. I still remember those memories, almost everything is carved over here, making me kinda crazy and smile... Keep on writing, let me know more about what you feel about this hobby of writing and whatever you feel worth sharing...
Childhood love can never be forgotten as it's the first love of life where you love only once and love like never..who makes you feel special forever....
very nicely penned!!!

That was so amazingly put that I can't even put it into words. This was so beautifully worded and it shows how much a person needs to go to find his one. Good vibes. Thanks for sharing this poem.

Welcome friend!
You give me back great memories of my school days, and how exciting young love can be fun ... puns, profound moments that swing, and play tag in the schoolyard for me nice thoughts ... nostalgic memories, in your writing, the girl does give you trust, that's somehow so obvious, but the dare to take her hand and and to show her your things that you keep hiding, is scary hihi ^^ enjoyed this! Nice write, about all that we haven been through at some point of our lives. Thank you for sharing this my friend.
