Sister, Dear SisterA Story by MichaelTwo twin sisters that look exactly alike, but attitudes are so different that it becomes deadly,
Larissa Potts sat at the desk in her bedroom, writing in her journal, her only escape from the problems, which now appeared in her life. Reflecting back on it, most of the problems had been caused by her twin sister Emily. The way she would sleep around with any man that caught her interest, using them for her own needs and never hiding the wicked ways that she lived by. But the one who had to deal with it the most was Larissa. For she was nothing like her wicked sister. Larissa always let herself become lost within books and religion, never to even try and let herself do the things that her sister does. The only reason she lived with her was because their parents left both of them the house, and she couldn't make her leave with no where to go. Just the thought of Emily, brought about an ill feeling in her soul. Bringing about such anger, to the point where she could not bear to endure it anymore. Most of the time she felt that she was alone, dealing with her sister, which made her, feel helpless. The only one that she had talked to about Emily, was her friend, Jeff Wade, a local cop that always comforted her through times like these. Right now, she had wished that he could come to her now, so she could find some peace of mind. But Jeff was across town, working on a case that he couldn't tell her about.
She pushed her grasses up the ridge of her nose, as she raised her head and gazed at the light gray shadows across the room. The thought of Emily being out there, doing Lord knows what, made her anger grow even stronger. How she wished that there were a way she could escape Emily's constant torture. But there was nothing she could do, mainly because it was her sister and she had always held family in such high regards. The only thing was, she wasn't sure how much longer she could put up with it. It was then that Larissa heard someone ringing the front doorbell. Even though it was early in the evening, she still wondered who it could be. In a way she figured it was one of Emily's male suitor's calling for her. "I better send him on his way, or else he'll just kept coming back." she thought as she stood up ands made her way to the bedroom door. When she reached the front door, she stood there for a moment in silence, as she ran her fingers through her long brown hair that she always wore up. In a way she feared seeing who would be waiting outside the door. No matter what, she had to answer it, for she couldn't have some stranger hanging around her house. When she opened the door, she saw a young man with short brown hair standing in front of the doorway. His eyes stared at her as he smiled so pleasantly. Larissa could tell that this man was different than the others that Emily normally brought home. There was a sparkle of kindness in his eyes that she had not seen in a man in a long time. "Hello, is Emily here. She had told me to come over. She said that she needed to see me." he said in a kind voice. "I'm sorry, she's not here. I have no idea where she is or when she will be coming come. I'm sorry that you came out here for nothing. " she said in a stern voice. "Oh…." he said in a disappointed tone. " Well, I'm sorry that I bothered you. I just don't understand why she would want me to come over, when she isn't even home." "That's just the way she is. Emily doesn't care about anything but herself. You should feel lucky that you didn't get involved with her, she is evil. Someone that a person like you should just stay away from." she said. "What do you mean evil?" he asked curiously. "She's a witch. Studying black magic so that she can get what she wants." she said. " The best thing for you to do is to just stay away and never go around her again." She could see the fear on his face from what she had said. Even though she didn't want to scare him, it seemed like the only thing that she could do to save him from her sister. Larissa watched as he turned and made his way to the street. She felt sorry for him in a way, that she had to hurt him like that. But there was nothing she could do about it now. Slowly she closed the door, then made her way back to her room. The only sanctuary that she had in the whole house. To give her a moment of silence, that was until Emily came home. In the morning, Emily sat on the couch in the living room, her fingers running through her long black hair. Her eyes looked out the window, as if she was waiting for someone to arrive. Yet, no one would be able to tell from the short black silken robe that she wore. It was then that she noticed Jeff Wade making his way to the front door of the house, as a devilish grin appeared on her lips. Her breath became slightly heavy as her hand touched her breast through the fabric of her robe. She knew that he was here to see Larissa, but was going to take the chance to seduce him. After all, she had seen the way he had looked at her a few times. Making it obvious to her that he wanted her and because of it, she found herself becoming excited by it. "Well Jeff, let's find out why you came here? Hopefully it's for pleasure and not business." she said as she slowly stood up. Emily made her way to the door, her hips swaying slightly, while she waited for him to ring the bell. When he did, she opened the door and looked at him, posing herself so seductively. "Hello Jeff, what brings you here?" she asked as she opened the door wider. "I came to see your sister. I wanted to make sure that she is alright." he said. Can I come in?" "Sure." she replied as she stepped back to let him in. Emily led him into the living room, as she felt his eyes on her. Watching every inch of her body, which turned her on even more. She made her way back to the couch and sat down. Looking up at him, she waited for him to say something. "Where is Larissa?" he asked. "Sleeping. I guess she stayed up late last night. Why don't you come over here and sit down." she said. Jeff was hesitant at first, but then sat next to her. In a way he had wanted to talk to her about what Larissa had told him. He figured that he might be able to talk some sense into her. At least that was what he thought. As he sat next to her, he could feel uneasy about what she might try to do. "In a way I wanted to talk to you, Emily. " he said. "Really and what would that be about?" she said as she inched closer to him. "Larissa is worried about you, She doesn't want to see you get hurt, by all the men you've been with and the way you have been acting." he said. "So…sister dear would feel better if I were to settle down with a man. Maybe then my life would turn around." she said. "In a way….. yes." "What is I wanted to settle down with you? You would like that wouldn't you? I have seen the way you've looked at me. I know that you want me." she said as she took his hand and placed it on her breast, inside her robe. He could feel the warm flesh of her breast under his fingers, which started to arouse him. Yet, he knew that he couldn't let this go any further, for he didn't want to be caught up in her madness. The only thing that he wasn't sure about was how she would react when he rejected her flirtation. "I'm flattered that you think of me that way, but I can't." he said. Instantly she stood up and started to walk away from him. She stopped a couple feet in front of him, then turned to face him. The expre4ssion on her face was that of sheer rage, as she stood there for a moment in silence. Jeff wasn't sure what she was going to do, but knew that he had to be ready for anything. "You got a thing for my sister, don't you! How can you want someone like her, when you could have someone like me." she said as her fingers gently ran over her breasts. Jeff just sat there, unsure of why she was saying that. He had never showed her any type of intentions like that. The only thing that he couldn't figure out was how he was going to tell her. For he knew about how her tempt could be, when she didn't get what she wanted. But the only thing that he could do was to tell her the truth. Slowly, she moved closer to him, her hips swaying from side to side. Her eyes stayed focused on him, like a predator stalking its prey. "I can make you so much happier than Larissa ever could. You can't even imagine the pleasure, which this body of mine can give you." she said seductively as she opened her robe. Revealing the sultry curves of her naked body, while that devilish grin stayed on her lips. He found himself unable to turn his eyes away from her, not believing that she was doing this. No matter how aroused she made him feel, he knew that he wouldn't let this go any further. "Emily, this is wrong. I can't do this with you, because I don't think of you that way. You're a friend, that's all." Jeff said honestly. Emily stood there, her eyes glaring with such anger as she closed her robe. He knew that she was going to yell at threaten him, just like so many times before. "That's it, get out of here! You are not welcome here anymore! Get out now!" she yelled. Jeff got up and made his way to the front door, while Emily followed behind him, continuing to yell at him. He could feel the urge to turn around and slap him, but knew that he couldn't. The best thing that he could do was to just walk away and hope that he could talk to Larissa when she was alone. Emily slammed the front door shut behind him, then raced up the stairs. When she reached Larissa's bedroom door, her fists pounded in it madly. "Larissa, I know that you're not sleeping. I just thought I should tell you, I sent your friend away. I told him to never come around here again. And I don't wan you to be meddling in my personal affairs. If you don't sop, then I'll make sure that you'll pay for it." she yelled. She banged on the bedroom door harder a couple times, as her anger grew and her breath became rapid. Over and over again she yelled the same thing, knowing that Larissa could hear her. Even though she didn't answer, Emily knew that she was listening. "Larissa, I know you are listening to me! If you don't stay out of my business, I'll make sure that you pay! I promise you'll regret you ever messed with me!" Emily said and then made her way into her bedroom. When she got into the bedroom, she sat on the edge of her bed and started to brush her long black hair. It was the one thing which she did that helped her calm down. Even though it might be silly to some people, but it was her way of getting herself to relax. As she did that, a wicked grin appeared on her lips. In her mind, she could only think about how she wanted revenge. The only thing that she could do was to wait for the right moment to do it. A couple days later, Jeff Wade had received a call from Larissa, at his office. He had a feeling that something was wrong, for she never called him at work. "Larissa? What's wrong?" Jeff asked. "I wanted to say how sorry I am about the way Emily had treated you. It was totally uncalled for. I have had enough of what my sister has been doing. She has to pay for the wicked things she has done. I'm going to make her pay, by playing her own game." she said. "What are you talking about?" Jeff said. 'She's a witch. So I'm going to use her own magic against her. I have everything that I need already to do it. And by this afternoon, she will be one less problem in my life." Larissa said in a serious tone. "What are you going to do to her?" he asked in a worried tone. "You don't have to worry about it. In a couple hours, we won't have to worry about sister dear again." she said. , then hung up. Jeff hung up the phone, as a feeling of dread suddenly consumed him. Even though Larissa was a levelheaded woman, he had no idea what she would do under such stress. He only hoped that he could get to her house in time to stop her. Grabbing his coat, he made his was out of the station. "Hang on Larissa, I'm coming." he said under his breath. A half-hour later, Jeff arrived at Larissa's house, unsure of what he would find inside. As he made his way up the walk, which led to the front door., a sudden terrifying feeling came over him. It was as if he already knew that he was too late. But that was impossible, she said that it would happen hours later. That was unless Larissa was lying to him about it. That way to cover up her tracks. When he went to the door, he found that it was locked, but knew that there had to be some other way inside. Larissa always tried to keep the back screen door open or a window for ventilation. All that he had to do was to find it. As he walked around the outside of the house, his eyes studied every window that he passed. They were all sealed shut with the dark curtains drawn. Obviously Larissa didn't want anyone to walk by and see what she was up to. When he got to the back door, he was in luck. She had left the door open and the screen door unlocked. As he went inside, he had a feeling that this was a wrong thing to do. For what if Emily had gotten the upper hand on Larissa and killed her? Then she would go after him, thinking that he was part of this plan of hers. Still, he had to find out what was going on. Quietly, he made his way through the house, searching every room, but found nothing. Then started to go upstairs to see if there was anything up there that could tell him was had happened. As he made his way down the upper hallway, he reached on door and it was locked. Then looked down at the end of the hallway to see a room's door that was left open. "That has to be it." he muttered to himself. As Jeff made his way to the opened door, he drew his gun out from its holster and pointed it in front of him. He had no idea what he would find when he got into the room, but wasn't going to take any chances. His heart raced faster with each step that he took, as his eyes stayed focused on the opened door in front of him. In his mind he kept trying to convince himself that he would be able to go in there, no matter what he had seen. Which, in a way seemed funny, considering all the gruesome sights, which he had seen in the past, being on the police force. When he reached the door, he stood there for a moment, took a deep breath then slowly walked inside. When he did, he saw Emily lying on the floor by the foot of her bed. Her eyes were closed, as her hands rested at her side, making her look so peaceful. He went over to her, knelt down, then touched the side of her neck to check for a pulse. There was none, which was that the one thing he feared. For a moment he remained motionless, looking at her. The way she lay there wearing the sat short silk robe that she had on when she had tried to seduce him. But it seemed that she wouldn't be seducing another man ever again. Then he got to his feet and made his way over to the phone that sat on the night table by the bed. "Hello, this is Officer Jeff Wade, I am at 347 Woodfield Drive. I want to report a murder." he said in a lifeless tone. His tone wasn't because of the fact that the other officers that would show up on the sight would think that he did it, but mainly that it just happened. Even though Emily did have her way, which seemed wrong to everyone else, she didn't have to die because of it. Later Jeff stood in the foyer as he lit up a cigarette. He had quite smoking two years ago, but now seemed like the perfect time to start up again. The thought of Emily and Larissa stayed trapped in his mind, as he tried to figure out what could have brought this about. From the corner of his eye, he saw the coroners bringing Emily's body out on a stretcher. A white blanket covered her body, out of respect for the dead. When they got to him, he told them to stop for a moment, saying that he was a close friend of the family. Which was the truth, he had known them, ever since they were children. His hand reached over and gently removed the sheet from her face, then stood there staring at her. "You knew her pretty well, didn't you officer." the one coroner asked. "Yes I did." he said as he removed the black wig from Emily's head. Revealing the long brown hair underneath. Her name was Larissa Emily Swanson. She had the most severe case of multiple personalities that anyone could ever find. It's just to bad that I couldn't help her." Then he placed the sheet back over her head, and watched as they wheeled her out to the ambulance. Knowing that he would always regret the fact that he could not have helped her. © 2012 Michael |
