Pour the Wine, Hold the Cheese

Pour the Wine, Hold the Cheese

A Poem by Mary
"

FYI Teachers enjoy writing exams every bit as much as students enjoy taking them

"

Should I ask this question on the test?

Is it something they should know?

Will omitting it destroy their lives?

My Merlot tells me no! (and the Mister, he never lies)

They might not ever need this, sigh…

Might be a waste of time

It might be just as pointless

As nonalcoholic wine. (perish the thought!)

I guess I must get to it now

It’s almost 1:00 am

I need another glass of wine

Oh damn! Where is my pen?

It's really a great innovation. An experienced science teacher has taken a lovely way to remind the chemistry of a common chemical that comprises a part of life for too many people around the world. The poets who feared chemistry in their school days will get new strength to guide their children and grand children about the basics of chemistry.
Thank you Mary for revealing the secret of making question of taking tests. This will invariably help the teachers.
As information technology has developed much,I take the opportunity to share the link of Wikipedia of Ethyl Alcohol or Ethanol or drinking alcohol to enlighten the poets who still have curiosity of things.

This is great! I love the prospective, its nice to think of the other side of the coin...(got worried at the thought of non-alcoholic wine though, phew I'd be in trouble!)
Thanks for making me smile, really enjoy the cheekiness of this as well!!

thanks, Georgia, I had some fun writing it- just wish test writing was as much fun, sigh
I love the dry wit and and comedy behind this poem and looking into the thought process of a professor. It brought a smile to my face.

thanks, I enjoy writing chemistry exams as much as my students enjoy taking them ;-/
Often, the most seemingly linear and logical process has its own creativity and thought twists. This is very enjoyable look at the creative process that underlies our decisions. It also makes me want to a) take a test (love tests) and b) have a glass of wine (love wine).

Trust the Merlot... they did!
Good, enjoyable read. I had fun with it. And I apologize for the review... too much coffee, not wine.

Haha ... really humorous piece. I am not a chemist and know nothing of science in general, and yet I got a kick out of it myself.

I'm a cHemist so I enjoyed your ethanol structure (complete with stereochemistry lol).

If it was a red wine maybe your students would be more challenged by the structure of tannic acid? :)

I love this as much as the other one. I love how you wrote one from each point of view.
