Other Plans

Other Plans

A Poem by Mary
"

Mary has just informed her family and Joseph about her condition. (not the joyous reaction she might have anticipated)

"

 Yesterday, everything was so clean.

Celestial greetings offered,

Divine Kingdoms promised,

A Sacred Plan proposed.

Yes, I remember there was a Plan…

Was that but a cruel daydream?

My womb informs me that my babe is real enough.

Today, Mother’s tears are endless,

Father’s eyes dismiss me,

And oh, my love, my Joseph

Recoils from my touch!

My innocence drowns in whispers of scandal

Tomorrow, I will leave my home

So that other plans can be made.

Whose Plan now shall I serve?

Interesting take on how a young girl, pregnant but not married, might respond to the bewilderment and tears of family and boy-friend who is not the father...

The opening lines speak well of the clarity of her faith - to be sorely tested by unexpected outcomes...

I am sure these are the thoughts, feelings & actions that Mary felt...I very good representation of her, indeed.

thanks for the kind words. I think the person of Mary is amazing, myself.
I have oftened wondered what those first few days were like for her and did she struggle with her family and her faith. I love the lines about her mother's tears and father's eyes. It makes it easy to relate to this young girl in an overwhelming situation. Very well written!

thank you, Lunny.
I have often wondered these same questions as well. I can imagine that things were not always the easiest on her. This was very well written. Excellent work.

There's a true heart here, speaking words so modern, so easy to understand and appreciate, even though we've been told or read before. Your interpretation's going to be very special. I'll be back.

Not a negative word, only positives. :)
