Winter is cold, but I sometimes think snow has personality. This poem came to me on my drive into work this morning (driving through some flurries of course).
I've always felt a sense of cold tranquility when standing and watching snow fall. It's usually quiet, most of the birds have left for warmer havens and those left don't speak much until they start attracting mates and marking territory in the Spring.
I've always liked the way you use religious imagery. Being brought up VERY Catholic, those images are a huge part of me, not in a faith sort of way, but more like being Jewish I think. Anyway, long review for a short verse! Well done, and thank you for bringing back fond memories of snow for me. :)

Beautiful and innocent Mary. A childhood memory that I share. I can remember doing this on a windy day trying to catch big flakes of fluffy snow blown off the trees until my face was red and my hair was soaked. Thanks for the memory!

thank you so much, William. a gentler size of winter.
Next time you mustn't take the convertible! (laughing) I love driving in the snow. You get the illusion of tunnel vision and I always feel like I'm in the Ididarod. Mush you huskies! This was lovely!
Ah, yes, the wonderful 6-fold symmetry. Nice opening line. This is one of the nicest opening lines in a haiku that I have seen in a while. It sets the stage for the rest of the haiku.

As a New Yorker, snow may be big pain in the butt, but I truely enjoyed it. I really like it when the big and damp flakes fell down. The type of snow you could throw snowballs and build a snowman. That's my favrote type of snow. All of these three simple lines reminded so much of that awesome snow. And I thank you for taking me away from the computer and put me into a real snow fall.
