I love the winter sky, dislike the cold. But the prettiest night sky is in the winter. Go figure, sigh. I think the beautiful winter night sky is Mother Nature's apology to me, he he.
The moonless frosty night makes her debut Glitz and glimmer, dash and dazzle, the heavens are bejeweled Winter’s suave apology for the cold
This, your poetry takes me.. I am there.. standing warm-wrapped and silent, until my eyes adjust and I can see the barest outline of naked tree branches where they silhouette the warm horizon of distant city lights. Yes, they are - "..the heavens are bejeweled" and we stare in wonder and awe of them; as countless generations before us. Mary, I believe you have captured a quintessential moment that spans the entirety of human experience. A moment as frozen in time as that "..moonless frosty night." I revel in it an put aside (momentarily) any discomfort that the cold may inflict. Your words are a warmth that will endure. Thank you, Mary.
100 twinkling, points of light.

An excellent attempt Mary for it definitely succeeds! The imagery you created in the first two lines is amazing for so few words, yet left me thinking 'what could there be to apologise for?' I could not possibly have imagined that it would be Winter making the apology. Outstanding!!
You truly have a gift for haiku Mary. I hope you write more of them!

She is too cold for my liking, but she delivers a magnificent sky, day or night. She provides no school snow days, but leaves me lots of messes to shovel. I could go on but I think you get the picture.

This is vibrant in its imagery and the title makes an intriguing but engaging write. The night sky is like blue velvet wherein bits of diamonds are thrown randomly - it's a magnificent sight to behold.

thanks so much Cynthia. I really love the winter night sky, and I can forgive the chill.
