I love the winter sky, dislike the cold. But the prettiest night sky is in the winter. Go figure, sigh. I think the beautiful winter night sky is Mother Nature's apology to me, he he.
The moonless frosty night makes her debut Glitz and glimmer, dash and dazzle, the heavens are bejeweled Winter’s suave apology for the cold
This, your poetry takes me.. I am there.. standing warm-wrapped and silent, until my eyes adjust and I can see the barest outline of naked tree branches where they silhouette the warm horizon of distant city lights. Yes, they are - "..the heavens are bejeweled" and we stare in wonder and awe of them; as countless generations before us. Mary, I believe you have captured a quintessential moment that spans the entirety of human experience. A moment as frozen in time as that "..moonless frosty night." I revel in it an put aside (momentarily) any discomfort that the cold may inflict. Your words are a warmth that will endure. Thank you, Mary.
100 twinkling, points of light.

I like how you described this as "her" debut, making the night sky seem more... real, in a way. Like a person. This was perfect for the season and very beautiful :)
I'm not a fan of Haiku style I admit. But I love this! The language, the imagery, the night as female (has to be) - the whole idea of the beauty of winter being an apology for the harshness of the season......fantastic.
More like this please!!! :))

So I did a rewrite, but kept this one as well, because I kind of liked this one better. I do have this love hate relationship with winter- it's cold and I dislike cold, but the night skies are incomparable in beauty. thanks for reading, Allen
lolloll what i said on the haiku goes for this one too, which is either a boon toward my empathetic nature of you really can write a mean haiku!! I think it's the latter, simply gorgeous :)

An interesting conclusion. But cold weather does make for a clear sky, and of course, when the moon is down, the stars can be seen to best advantage (providing there are no city lights). Yes, the heavens are bejeweled. It is a marvel holding secrets beyond the imagination of mankind.
I am total geek, optimist, hopeless romantic child of God. I love poetry! I was a high school science teacher for many years, but at the present time I work as a math tutor at a local community coll.. more..
