Today

Today

A Poem by Mary
"

awaiting medical test results can be a very scary time....

"

today

worry distracts my mind

controls my heart

smothers my soul

rendering absurd

my Hope of Possibility

today

fear imprisons my Spirit

veils my I Am

eclipses my Light

rendering unthinkable

my Hope of Possibility

tomorrow

I will know

but...

positive or negative

will it

be

enough

ever again

?

Author's Note

Mary
We all like to believe that our sense of who and what we are doesn't depend on outside forces, but sometimes, while awaiting frightening medical test results, fear can and does take over completely, and we may wonder if we will ever be the same...

I live in confuzzled, read my poem about 'Hope' being a four letter word, if your ears can tolerate it. I hope your day after was filled with contentment, there's that word again. I love your choice of words, they all fit so perfectly and flow to towards that 'hope of possibility'. Nice read.

We usually learn the most on the worst days. Too bad it can't be easier eh?

i tried but we must be friends for me to read your writing
and in many ways...even if it is not medical...just in the head and heart..we can put ourselves on hold...and become very depressed, wondering if we will ever step forward again.

Hi Mary. It sounds, from your poem, that you were waiting for some important news. What happened? Hope you're OK. I like the poem.

External influences intrude the 'I am' constantly! If only they didn't sometimes!! Liked this poem alot! Nice writing - I love the "Veils my I am"

thank you Allan, sometimes events can really test our beliefs in who and what we think we are.
