Outside

Outside

A Poem by Phillipe Foucher
"

Esoteric poem about my experience as a runner.

"

Born on the outside of the world

Everything seems so strange

Never felt like I belonged

Success is the only thing that keeps me tethered to the absurdity

The pain of fading consciousness in the last lap is the only reality

Everything else is trapped in another world... Don't know where don't know why don't know how

The determination of getting to the finish line...the will that blacks out anything on the sidelines and allows you to have a sort of tunnel vision....is described so well here. The whys and hows are not important in a situation such as this....it is all a means to an end. "The end justifies the means" comes to mind. Well written. Lydi**
