PhotoraphA Poem by Charles E.McManusReminiscing a lost one
A color silhouette of days gone by
Your faces stares back from a frame of wood and glass Your laughter still rings upon my ears Your voice like springtime so long ago fades in my mind I grip your image ever so tight in hopes to bring your shape to reality Tears flow like raindrops on the windowpane Fingers clenched tight as knuckles whiten with each sob My heart aching with each memory you left sending howls of anguish through me Tonight; alone I grieve your leaving Tomorrow you’ll be back on the mantle I’ll no longer hold your hand or hear your voice No more conversations over coffee or walks in the sun I no longer hold you I just have your photograph © 2019 Charles E.McManus |
