Child in the corner

Child in the corner

A Poem by Charles E.McManus
"

Story of a tragic loss of innocence

"
I was whole once.....
The world was bright and endless it seemed

But you came; and with each stroke you cut me..... the darkness moving in as each piece fell away

Innocence was a gift; ignorance a comforting blanket

But you stripped away the sheets letting the cold take over and shame and fear lay beside me

I could say nothing as you used me for your own purpose; making me feel ashamed of my very image in the mirror

Trust falling away as I searched for a place to hide

Light, warmth, and love for myself went missing that day ;forever changed never content to walk in the sun I became the quiet child in the corner....

Tales of molestation are always painful to read. One can only hope healing will come some day.
