I Must Leave

I Must Leave

A Poem by McEltic
"

In memory of my brother who passed Dec. 31, 2017

"
~~~
Listen
I must leave now for a while
Do not grieve or shed tears
Just hug your sorrows
then set them free
~
Greet new days with gallant smiles
for my sake
In my memory
live on
~
Change nothing
For one pining thought
unforgotten
gives grief one last reprieve
~
Reach out for me
Feel my heart
Never
ever
be afraid when you see me
waiting
in the sky
~~~

I have a best friend like this who died five years ago, but I always feel him accompanying me & dipping into a thought or decision I might be in the middle of, many times! Maybe I'm too old for grief, that age when cynicism says, hell, if we make it over 60, then why not accept death when it comes? I like your poem becuz I don't see what all the crying is about & you make the end of life sound okay (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Beautiful poetry and tribute for your brother. I found this piece particularly moving as I lost my own younger brother five years ago. Lovely work.

Such a beautiful, profound litany of words. Losing a sibling years ago left me questioning my own mortality. She is with me, still...and that is my immeasurable joy here on earth!

Wonderful- ‘when you see me waiting in the sky’, knowing that no matter how far apart that the connection never ends- sometimes I wonder why these connection cannot be fleshy but only spiritual- I guess the lessons of life are asked in love so true and deep that it can’t only be manifested on a spiritual level- well I know- wonderful poem🌹
