The Gentle Maple

The Gentle Maple

A Poem by McEltic
"

The title is in reference to Canada :)

"
~~~
Her battered cliffs
eroding
tell
of timeless drifts of coastal swell
As upward
rising
wholesome mist
coheres
with life's
advancing fist
~
Above
her gentle maples
frown
her autumn bliss now shades of brown
Her glory
fades
through misperceives
distorted
crushed
to rotted leaves
~
Across
the mistral'd
comber
lakes
her foehn of wistful soul awakes
In deathless hush
of cruel
mistakes
the gentle maple
sighs
~~~

What a hovering ode sung in a melancholy autumn music. The beautifully hushed tones are wondrous here.
