Vicarious

A Poem by Maynard Winter
"

My day dreams... a quiet call for help.

"

Can you see me?
I'm the player on the left
No one knows my name
Yet.
Just waiting for that one play
One athletic action that will make me a star
and be loved by the city

Can you see me?
I just came onto the scene
A fresh face, a stand out
With just the right sex appeal
I speak my lines with perfect timing
The studio audience laughs
A network star is born

Can you see me?
I just walked onto the stage
Thousands scream my name at the sight of me
Singing my songs as I sing them
Watching in awe as my music takes them to new places
They love me

Suddenly

The game is over
The episode is finished
The concert has ended

I'm back to myself again
