It's my coffin

It's my coffin

A Poem by Mayank
"

The slow of process of dying...

"

Easy, easy

Handle with care

It’s my coffin,

Easy, easy

I am gonna lay there

Here, in my coffin.

I sat on the chair

I have been idle for too long,

The Lid of a coffin ajar

This is where we belong.

I lit a cigarette

Wearily going through the bills due,

Poor health and hefty debt

Happy that I am not yet sued.

Cracked my wire glasses

couldn't read anymore,

My sight harasses

People have stopped knockin' on my door.

Now old and gray

I abandoned god,

Neither do I pray

By now, your minds have trod.

Bury me

Bury my belief,

Under the Mahogany tree

Bury mine & thy grief.

Thank you Megha!
wow- it is so emotional...exhaustion, resignation or acceptance, I feel resignation but that is me projecting for sure, loneliness or again acceptance, I feel loneliness but that may be me projecting again. This is a wonderful piece of art....love the stanza breaks, the grammar was excellent, very powerful. Love it!

You are very welcome - it was my pleasure :)
I loved this. I actually loved the sadness and eerie feeling of it and the mystery as I read every line. I liked how you repeated some words at the beginning. I also liked your word choice. I think you really nailed it because I like how it wasn't too descriptive and it let the reader think a little for themselves and let them get their own feeling from it yet because of that I feel like it was really vivid at least as I imagined it in my mind. Good meaning and write!

Thanks Gummy!
That's paints a vivid picture of a tired soul in this crazy life! Peace is seen in different ways.. Some have it when they have nothing left to do with anything. Great write!

Thank you Sindhu!
Well penned lines of a wasting life, self-fulfilling prophecies of nothing.

It's a sad state in which so many seem to be living, isn't it? They search for meaning in all the wrong things… ask all the wrong questions in their lives. Looking to God for wealth and power, things He cares nothing for; all He really cares for is that we have what we need and are in right-relationship with Him. That means taking ourselves out of the me and living for Him and for the love He values: love of all. And, when they don't find the ego-centric me-me-me answers, they turn from God because they've emptied themselves in pursuit of nothing real, tried to fill the void with hard-edged, poisoning THINGS that can never give back what folks have given up in their endless grasping for more… and more… and more… for what, ultimately, is only emptiness.

But, you know what I think? I don't think it matters if you don't believe in God. He believes in you. His Grace and Mercy are always held out for us. I think He's waiting for us to just turn our mind's eye and see Him in us.

So much of the world is lost in dogma, they've blinded themselves to Him. He's not in their dogma. Religion isn't Faith… isn't God. Religion is man's attempt to define the indefinable. And dogma is the spiked club man uses to enforce his own will onto the world, to try to bend God to to his own power.

The point were faith ends as the result in our life no loger seems to make any relation to a from of divinity and we are pushed back to the brink of the question. If divinity is supposed to be good why is all this stuff happening to me? As the question might never be answered we resort to what we know. Ashes to ahses , dust to dust. Unavoidable really so might as well make my coffin the office and work from there as it will save time and money.

There is humour in that view.

Thankyou
