It's my coffin

It's my coffin

A Poem by Mayank
"

The slow of process of dying...

"

Easy, easy

Handle with care

It’s my coffin,

Easy, easy

I am gonna lay there

Here, in my coffin.

I sat on the chair

I have been idle for too long,

The Lid of a coffin ajar

This is where we belong.

I lit a cigarette

Wearily going through the bills due,

Poor health and hefty debt

Happy that I am not yet sued.

Cracked my wire glasses

couldn't read anymore,

My sight harasses

People have stopped knockin' on my door.

Now old and gray

I abandoned god,

Neither do I pray

By now, your minds have trod.

Bury me

Bury my belief,

Under the Mahogany tree

Bury mine & thy grief.

I felt the process...I felt a man preparing, getting his affairs in order....Just getting ready to take that last journey, to board that train to the other side....It kept me. Nice write.

best poem on a corpse and it's home(the coffin) where it lies awake(like a dead soul) and does what it did when it was a human.. Powerful words and nice setting man! keep it up (y)

Thank you so much, you gave the outlook which even I didn't think of!
You know, I was going to write a poem like this but you did it so much better than I was doing it, I think I would rather just read yours! Bravo! I like the images and the narrative style. Believe me, I have felt like this a lot lately, and I know it isn't always an easy thing to express properly. You have done it quite well.

thank you so much!
I was scouring through the comments and saw that you had a near death experience, and how you explained that your view on death has changed since that experience. I absolutely adored the piece beforehand and was able to connect with it due to two major deaths in my family recently, but I love how it got me to think about your point of view even more after finding out it's based on your feelings post your near death experience. It's very deep yet simple, and I feel an overall satisfaction by the end of it. Great work!

Thank you so much for stopping by and reviewing it, I appreciate your time and kind words.
My goodness this was powerful. Lost in sadness and loneliness, and planning his own funeral, or really living his funeral. I hope I never see the day when all that is left to my identity is a few bills and a cold coffin just waiting for me to grace it. Really well written my friend!
