chapter 7A Chapter by CountryBumpkinMunchkinTerri’s husband, Greg had just stepped through the door. Terri’s
mind rebounded back to the present. Greg dropped his keys in a tray by the
front door as a five-year-old bumblebee buzzed in. “Mommy!
Mommy, I won the costume contest!” Terri’s only daughter Sagel, had been at a
birthday party all afternoon. She was dressed as a bumblebee, and Terri thought
she looked like an overstuffed yellow and black sausage; adorable just the
same. Terri grinned at Sagel, who was looking very proud of herself. Terri leaned
forward and let the old diary slide out of her hand onto the oak coffee table.
Greg looked at her knowingly. “Hi, honey.
How was work?” Greg greeted Terri with a kiss on the lips. “Not bad.
You?” “Relaxing,
thank goodness,” he replied. Terri began
to get up and head for the kitchen, but Greg took her hand and squeezed it,
saying, “I cook tonight, you just relax with Sagel.” Terri thought about
arguing, but inclined her head, and scooped up Sagel, carrying her into the
kitchen. “Okey-dokey,
tell me about the party.” Sagel launched into a full description of the party without hesitation. Her goody bag was overflowing with candy and prizes, and Sagel was anxious to show her parents everything. “My baby, Sagel and my best friend Sagel, are so much alike. I’m so lucky to spend time with both,” Terri thought to herself, then put the accident in the back of her mind. © 2010 CountryBumpkinMunchkin |
